After
birth, juveniles are held in five, 15 liter and four 25 liter specially
constructed kreisels (right). As the juveniles grow, they are transferred
into one of five, 75-liter grow-out tanks. The only habitat in these
tanks is artificial eelgrass. The tank bottoms are maintained without
substrate to allow siphoning of waste products and reduce biological
growth.
