Tidepooling
Tidepooling with Birch Aquarium naturalists

Tidepooling

Visit a local tide pool to learn how these amazing habitats and their inhabitants truly survive 'between a rock and a hard place.' Our trained educators/naturalists will show you how to tread lightly during your visit and help you discover the wonderful world of tide pools.

TIDEPOOLING FOR ALL

Winter is the optimal season for tide pooling as minus tides reveal wider beaches and tide pools teeming with life. La Jolla and Encinitas tide pools will be explored by aquarium naturalists, who will carefully guide participants into fragile tide-pool communities and highlight the inhabitants. This program is designed for ages 6 and up, but all are welcome.

TIDEPOOLING FOR TOTS

Take your little one on a tidepooling adventure with Scripps naturalists. These locations are ideal for young children since the rocky areas are surrounded by sand for easier exploration. See marine life, including hermit crabs, snails, sea hares, mussels, barnacles and sea anemones

All tidepooling programs have concluded for this year. Please check back with us for next year's dates.

Have a great summer!
