Enjoy two nights of science gone awry as you encounter creeps from the deep and experiments with wacky, mad scientists. Explore the aquarium for tricky-treats, slimy encounters, spooky activities, and monstrous live music. Be sure to visit the Waterways Courtyard and get wise about water. Put your knowledge and skills to the test in a maze of haunted activities.

Come dressed to impress in your best costumes as prizes will be awarded for the best marine-themed, family-themed, and most creative costumes each night of Haunted Birch Aquarium. Groove to the live tunes of Surfin' Shark Daddies.

New! Pumpkin Decorating Contest

We're hosting a pumpkin-decorating contest and want to feature YOUR designs. Pumpkins will be displayed at Birch Aquarium Oct. 20-24 and voted upon by our visitors. Winners will be featured on our website and will receive spooktacular prizes. Entrants receive $2 off admission per person (limit 4) to Haunted Birch Aquarium.

• Best Marine Creature
• Best Garbage Patch Pumpkin (decorated out of recycled materials)

Contest Rules

• Only one pumpkin can be submitted per entrant.
• Do not carve or cut your pumpkin. We will not accept pumpkins with holes larger than a pin prick.
• Please secure all accessories to your pumpkin (suggestions: use glue, tape, push pins, or quilting pins).
• Your design must be child friendly and non-offensive.  

Submission and Prizes

• All pumpkins must be dropped off at Birch Aquarium's Education Department between 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., October 18-20.
• Please download and complete an entry form, and submit it with your pumpkin.
• Prizes will be awarded Friday, October 23, during Haunted Aquarium.  You do not need to be present to win.
• All pumpkins must be picked up between 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., October 25-26.  Pumpkins left behind will be tossed into the witches brew!
