Here's a bright idea! Join the global effort to slow climate change and cut down your energy bill this summer at Birch Aquarium at Scripps.

  • On select Saturdays, exchange up to five 75-watt or higher incandescent light bulbs and up to two halogen torchiere lamps (bring entire fixture) for more energy-efficient models (while supplies last, come early!) -- a combined value of more than $100!*
  • NEW! -- Bring in your expired compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and we will properly dispose of them for you.
  • All exchange participants will receive a voucher for 2-for-1 SAME DAY admission to Birch Aquarium at Scripps. Discover the aquarium's newest exhibit, Feeling the Heat: The Climate Challenge, and learn more about climate change through interactive activities for all ages.
  • CFLs produce about 75 percent less heat so they're safer to operate.
  • CFLs use about 75 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer.
  • Save about $30 or more in electricity costs over each bulb's lifetime.
  • Bring a valid California ID and/or your SDG&E bill to the event.

And, if you re thinking about making energy-efficiency improvements to your home, find out about available rebates from SDG&E to help you go green and save green. For more information, visit www.sdge.com/residential.
