DESCRIPTION:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the visitor services office, including admissions,
membership, and Group Sales programs at the Birch Aquarium. Supervise the admission
staff responsible for visitor fee collection for guests coming to the aquarium.
Responsible for the development and implementation of procedures and protocols
for the distribution, collection, preparation, and verification of cash funds
for the admission unit. Manage the Group Sales program, and supervise the group
sales representative, including scheduling ,handle logistical needs, produce
reports, and provide group billing. Oversee the office customer services and
fulfillment for the membership program ensuring that new and renewal memberships
are sold to aquarium visitors, membership benefits are explained to guests, and
memberships are verified and entered into Millennium database. With the Visitor
Services Supervisor, recruit and hire career staff for admissions and group sales as
needed. Develop and implement customer service standards and ensure they are being met.
Respond to visitor complaints and update supervisor on action taken. Prepare reports
as needed. Supervise all crowd control needs of the aquarium. Coordinate operations
serving as first line of response for facility, food service, and parking problems,
malfunctions, and other visitor services issues. Liaisons with contract cafe and
bookstore operations to ensure aquarium standards are maintained. Develop policies
and procedures for the orientation and support of the Information Center volunteers.
Be responsible for aquarium lost and found service. Update the aquarium's automated
phone attendant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting, cash control policies and statistics.
* Demonstrated supervisory experience; ability to provide effective training and work direction to staff & volunteers.
* Experience working in nonprofit organization, educational facility or visitor attraction and/or retail sales environment.
* Demonstrated ability to work well under stressful conditions and to respond to the general public in an efficient & professional manner.
* Experience in planning, executing, and supervising events.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to work with shifting priorities and constant interruptions.
